This morning I received a lovely surprise – Alex rang me just as they were reaching the halfway mark and I was able to celebrate with them.

It was good to hear his voice and to hear that they are preparing for the challenging weather ahead.  While this morning they were still in light winds, it is about to pick up from the NE-NW rising to over 25kts and seas of 3.5m on Thursday – Friday.

The challenge at the end will be the Foveaux Strait, but we’ll cross that Strait when we come to it!

By the way, if you want to see Rusalka’s current position (along with the current forecasted weather) just click on “Where is Rusalka” just above the picture of a globe, either on the right side of this page or on the bottom of the page.

Only one picture for today – Alex lashing the wheel to hold the rudder in place while the Hydrovane is steering the boat.
