From Rusalka:

Morning, 20 Jan. 2018.

Settled into the routine of 3hour watches. All together for the main meal at about 6pm AEDT.

First 2 days were a bit bouncy, gusting occasionally to just over 30 kt. After that blow and unpleasant seas we were becalmed, and in fact started to drift back towards Tasman Is. so motor on for the next 5 hours. The winds came back for a pleasant reach, increased to 20kt, but the waves left over from the blow made it unpleasant. Gradually things eased for a fair sailing. And eased more, so on with the motor. Then the forecast weak front slipped by just astern with no effect on us yesterday evening.

Just changed course to NE. Put up more main, genoa is all out. True wind is 13kt SE. Doing 7kt. Seas about 1m. Lovely reach, ever so gentle.

393nm east of Tasman Is.

Crew comments: “Meals are fabulous.” “Enjoying the fabulous meals.” “No mutinies or anyone thrown overboard yet.”
