Arrival day was very busy. No sooner had Border Force and Biosecurity cleared the crew and boat then the diesel mechanic arrived to look at the engine.
After a thorough search for the cause of the intermittent problem of no water circulating through the engine, he determined that the water pump housing is worn and needed replacing. Unfortunately, this means waiting for a replacement water pump to be sent up from Sydney.

The next day Boris and Roisin said goodbye and headed off for their own adventures.
I began preparations for departure as soon as I arrived, shopping and cooking up a storm. Alex (after getting some much-needed sleep) did boat chores including washing down and stowing the storm jib.

Anne arrived from Melbourne on Wednesday afternoon to join us for the trip down the coast. We are all ready to depart, but still waiting for the water pump to be repaired. Fingers crossed that will happen this afternoon. The other obstacle to our leaving is waiting for the import clearance for the boat, although this can be managed by obtaining temporary clearance to travel from port to port (Newcastle to Hobart).
It’s a little frustrating as there is a perfect weather window at the moment, these things happen and the weather looks favourable for the next little while, so we’ll soon be heading down the coast. Keep an eye on us using the tracker or Marine Traffic as I’m unlikely to be writing a blog post while sailing! I’ll report back in when I can.
