Well, we did it. Subantarctic islands, Southern Ocean, 5700 nautical miles, Tasman Sea.

We left Eden at around 3pm on Tuesday, as the southerlies died down. Unfortunately, the seas took longer to settle and I felt decidedly off for the first half of the trip.

After another quiet (mostly motoring) 24 hr run from Jervis Bay we arrived in Eden. We decided to wait here while a southerly front passed by.

Arrival day was very busy. No sooner had Border Force and Biosecurity cleared the crew and boat then the diesel mechanic arrived to look at the engine.

The visiting bird wasn’t sighted again after early morning on Thursday, so it must have recovered and taken off. Meanwhile Rusalka made good progress toward Newcastle.
