We left Rusalka in RBYC for a week while visiting family and friends, all the while keeping an eye on the weather for opportunities to continue eastward on our circumnavigation of Bass Strait.

This summer has been unusual in that highs keep slipping below Tasmania leaving Bass Strait to experience endless easterly winds.  Not good for traveling eastward!

Yesterday we decided, for a few reasons (but mainly weather!), to abandon plans to head to Wilson’s Prom and then down past Deal Island to Flinders Island.  Seeing a 48 hr period of light winds (from all points of the compass at various times) we’ve decided to head straight to the Tamar, so today we left Brighton, stopped at Sandringham YC for a fuel top-up, and then sailed and motor-sailed down the Bay to Sorrento where we’ve pulled up a Parks mooring (at least we knew what we were looking for this time!).  Tomorrow morning we’ll head out through the Rip and hopefully sometime on Thursday reach Beauty Point.

Bye Bye Brighton!
